The foundation of SCCM (foundation for coordination of certification of environmental and occupational health and safety management) is an initiative of participants of the government, trade and industry, environmental movement and certification bodies.
The goal is to create the preconditions for ensuring that ISO 14001
and OHSAS 18001 certificates have added value in the relations between
business and their surroundings, e.g. the government authorities.
SCCM draws up the ‘rules’ which the certification bodies must comply
with in their work. The basic rules are laid down in the ISO 14001 and OHSAS
18001 certification systems and the EMAS verification system. The certification
systems contain interpretations of the standards and guidelines for the organization
and the certification body.
SCCM is the designated competent body for the EMAS regulation in the Netherlands.
