EMAS verification
Each Member State designates the organization that accredits or licenses EMAS verifiers in the Member State. In most Member States, this task is carried out by the government-designated accreditation body. In the Netherlands, this is the Dutch Accreditation Council (RvA).
EMAS verifiers
In the Netherlands, there are no accredited EMAS verifiers. This means that organizations in the Netherlands must engage an EMAS verifier from another Member State. One point to note is that this foreign verifier must inform the RvA in good time that a verification will take place in the Netherlands. The RvA is responsible for EMAS accreditations carried out in the Netherlands and must also have the opportunity to observe the verification.
Approval statement
When granting approval, the EMAS verifier issues a statement confirming that all EMAS requirements have been met and that there are no indications of violations of environmental laws and regulations.
The registration as an EMAS participant is carried out by the EMAS competent body in the Member State; in the Netherlands, this is SCCM. How this works can be found in the SCCM procedure for EMAS registration (Dutch).
